As the Clean Eating Challenge (CEC) kicked off back in October, it’s hard to believe that the festive season is upon us, with Christmas and New Year’s just around the corner. With a hectic schedule and a host of other excuses my mind conjured, I found myself at a crossroads. Instead of succumbing to the familiar refrains of “enjoy life,” “we live once,” and “you’ve earned it” (which, let’s be honest, I had), I decided to take charge.
In an effort to align with a cleaner, healthier lifestyle, I embarked on a culinary journey, reimagining my mom’s favorite recipes into a menu that prioritizes well-being. This approach extends beyond the holidays and into the New Year, with a resolution to greet 2024 in a unique way – with an early beachside walk, embracing the promise of new beginnings, new days, and new opportunities. And by “early,” I mean a “dry” New Year’s Eve, steering clear of the typical indulgences.
But it doesn’t stop there. Recognizing the need to counterbalance any festive indulgences, I’ve redirected my focus to detoxifying activities. The extra calories are being replaced with sessions in the infrared sauna, invigorating deep tissue massages, and bracing cold plunge dates. These changes aren’t just about offsetting holiday excesses; they’re a conscious effort to reset and rejuvenate, ensuring a healthier start to the upcoming year.
As the countdown to 2024 begins, I’m optimistic that these shifts in mindset and lifestyle will pay off. The goal is not just to survive the holiday season unscathed but to emerge on the other side with a shorter New Year’s resolution list, thanks to the proactive steps taken now to catch up with a future filled with health, vitality, and well-being. Cheers to a clean-eating future!
