Progress Over Perfection

Progress isn’t about achieving perfection; it’s about showing up, trying, and learning along the way. Real growth occurs in the messy middle—when we let go of the need for everything to be “just right” and focus instead on moving forward.

This is a lesson I’m still working on. It feels like I’ve either ‘done it exactly right’ or failed completely. It’s a hard mindset to shake. When something doesn’t go the way I envisioned, I often find myself thinking it’s not worth continuing at all.

However, I’ve started to recognize how much this mindset holds me back. Books like The Mountain Is You and * Daring Greatly* have helped me see how perfectionism leads to self-sabotage. Instead of embracing what I truly want or need, I tend to overthink, avoid, or push it away because it feels uncertain or uncomfortable. Breaking that cycle isn’t easy, but it takes courage, and it is worth the effort. I hope that with this challenge, I will learn how to break the cycle and have a new way of viewing food and a new lifestyle that will benefit my life.

The truth is, life will never be perfect, and that’s okay. What matters is taking small steps, even when things feel messy. Remember, progress is still progress, no matter how imperfect it may seem. It’s the journey that counts, not the destination.

Here’s to showing up, doing our best, and embracing the process—flaws and all.
